Danielle Jones, a 23-year-old woman from Miami, has been in a coma for over a week after being attacked by her roomate. Jones had met the suspect, 35-year-old Byron Mitchell, a week before the attack, through Craigslist.<\/div>\n

Jones was strangled and cut up by her new roommate on the night of her 23rd birthday. According to her mother, Jones has a brain injury and multiple scars on her face and neck, and doctors still don\u2019t know when she\u2019s going to wake up or if she will.<\/div>\n

Byron Mitchell was charged with attempted murder. But the 35-year-old man told the police<\/a> he was trying to defend himself since Jones was holding a knife.<\/div>\n

Jones mother, Aimee Nikolove, is having a hard time dealing with the situation: \u2018I\u2019m still in shock, I can\u2019t comprehend that someone can do this to someone, mutilate them in such a way and try to kill them,\u2019 Nikolove told NBC in a recent interview. \u2018My daughter\u2019s face is cut up like he was going to take her face off. She has a brain injury.<\/div>\n
